Flu Relief

A lot of medications that offer flu relief can stimulate unwanted side effects such as nausea, dizziness, and loss of appetite. Natural cures can be just as efficient in mild to moderate types of flu. An additional benefit is that numerous alternative treatments do not cause side effects. When combined with sufficient rest and sleep, natural remedies are effective in helping a person recover from the flu quickly.

  • Several people find relief by taking up herbal influenza remedies. A developing body of research advises that elderberry extract is good in reducing the length of the flu, if it is taken briefly after symptoms first come out.

Baptisia is a different herb that is occasionally applied as a flu relief and cure. Baptisia is efficient in easing some of the worse symptoms of the flu. This includes painful muscles, weakness, sore eyes, pounding head ache and exhaustion. It is a wild flower that develops on high bushy foliage and is discovered in North America.

  • Garlic is also suggested for flu relief. Garlic should be taken as soon as flu symptoms become detectable. It can bring down chills and body pain. You  can cut the garlic in one-half and put it between the teeth and cheeks. Hold it in the mouth for just about 30 minutes.
  • Several experts suggest using vitamins as natural cold and flu cures. The mineral zinc is advisable for shortening the length of the flu. There is a research that  people can reduce their recovery time in half by taking lozenges with 13 mg of zinc gluconate.

Usually Vitamin C is used to treat cold and flu symptoms. An individual should start taking the vitamin instantly after the attack of symptoms.

Illness need not be a drag with these simple remedies for the flu

Coming down with a bad case of sniffles and flu-like symptoms – constant coughing, difficulty swallowing, body aches, accompanied by fever that won’t go away after you’ve taken a few medicines — can be downright uncomfortable and distressing.  Some people tend to think taking medications is the only quick way to clear all the symptoms.  Oftentimes, busy people even neglect having a medical check-up even when flu symptoms persist despite taking over-the-counter medicines.

Little do they realize that their body may be signalling them to slow down, get some rest, exercise and take natural remedies to regain energy & health.  Frequent bouts with the common cold and flu signal low immunity.  A weak immune system, in turn, heightens a person’s risk of getting infected with more serious illnesses like pneumonia.  A doctor’s prescription is definitely needed before considering to try remedies for the flu.

In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt to know some self-care remedies for the flu that may help bring your back in normal working order. Don’t think you need to be a herbalist or a good cook to brew your own natural medicines. To ease your sniffles, a warm bath and adequate bed rest may soothe your body discomforts. You may also try steaming. Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil to water, and let the steam open up your nasal passages. Stay hydrated with lots of water and herbal teas. There are good-tasting quality herbal tea options that can relieve nasal congestion and puffy nose, and/or provide a protective coating on the membranes lining the throat. Cayenne pepper tea and thyme tea may also be effective remedies. Healthier habits,  natural immune-boosters are two things you need to explore to feel a whole lot better.

Natural Flu Remedies – What Nature Has to Offer

Influenza which is commonly known as flu is a very common disease that people everywhere in the world experience. It has been known to exist since centuries ago. The irony is that there are no direct cures for flu however old and common it is. Medications given by doctors to those suffering from it just relieve symptoms like colds, cough and fever. They do not directly address the source of the problem. Because of this many people put their trust on natural flu remedies. These remedies have been used for centuries also and have saved many lives. Here are some of the remedies available.

    1. Take garlic. Garlic is known to have both anti-viral and antibacterial properties.
    2. Drink ginger tea. It has anti-viral properties. It also helps ease nasal congestion. To prepare ginger tea, boil two tablespoons of grated ginger in two cups of water. Strain and it is now ready to drink.
    3. Eat fresh fruits. Fruits contain vitamin C. It is needed to help boost the immune system. Eating fruits will also bring in other nutrients that your body needs but fail to get because of loss of appetite that usually comes with the flu.
    4. Try thyme. It is an expectorant and it also has a relaxing effect. Mix one teaspoon of dried thyme in one cup boiling water. Steep for a while and as you do so inhale the steam. It decongests the nose.

Now natural flu remedies do not only exist in the kitchen or the garden. You can already buy natural cures in health stores and over the internet. Manufacturers have found ways to make taking natural cures easier.

4 Natural Flu Remedies – A Simple Guide

Have you ever experienced having flu? Most probably you have and chances are you experienced it more than once. A lot of people suffer from flu because it is a contagious disease. It is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract that is transferred through droplets. The droplets are either released in air when one coughs or when one sneezes. This is why people are advised to cover their mouth or nose when they cough or sneeze. But the virus can also be transferred through direct contact. If you shake hands with somebody who just sneezed and covered his nose with his hands, the virus can be passed on to you. Fortunately, even if the flu can be transferred from person to person very fast, there are many natural flu remedies available. Here are some tips for you.

    1. Drink fruit juices. Fruit juices will help you prevent dehydration which aggravates flu symptoms. Fruit juices are also good in boosting your immune system because most, if not all them are good sources of vitamin C.
    2. Sip broth. When one has flu, eating becomes difficult. This is not only because of the physical pain that makes eating hard but because you also lose your appetite when you have flu. Sipping broth is easier to do than eating and this will help bring in some of the nutrients that your body needs. Broth will also help you prevent dehydration.
    3. Gargle with salt solution. This will help relieve sore throat that results from excessive coughing.
    4. Take natural supplements. If you cannot make natural preparations of cumin tea, olive leaf extract, etc. you now have the option to take those commercially prepared supplements. They have the same contents as the actual herbs and natural ingredients. There are a lot of these available on the internet.

Natural flu remedies have been helpful to people for a lot of generations already. It is good that advancement in technology has made these natural cures accessible.
